Final VFX Shot Composition
VFX Breakdown - Layer wipe showing the different steps I had to take to create a clean plate of the talent's face and then integrate and animate the talents hand in post to catch the digital ring and transition to the physical prop.
Blender Scene for the floating/falling ring animation.
FilmLaab reached out asking if I could create a Lord of the Rings-esque ring catch. This project provided an exciting challenge because the provided match-cut footage would not line up perfectly, so I opted to dive into the VFX solution, and create clean plates of her face, erase the physical ring prop, replace it with the digital floating render, puppeteer masked layer of talent's hand (magic mask roto) to catch ring, fade into real asset and re-add any facial movements after.
